Homeschool Mother's Journal #38: Camping and a Song

The Homeschool Mother's Journal

In my life this week...
It has been pretty ordinary. Just your run-of-the-mill mom stuff. I did get out of the house on Wednesday. That was nice. I haven't been able to leave the house much since Lee Anne started her new job. She uses my van which leaves me stranded. Most of the time it's not an issue. On Wednesday she got a ride to work and I was able to take the kitty to be neutered, get the girls' eye exams done and take them out to lunch. It was a fun day!

In our homeschool this week...
We're at the end of Week 14 of Term III.  Having taken our "break month" in February, we're using March to finish up our year. We are gearing up for brand new material and it's very tempting to just run ahead and 'get to it'. But patience is a virtue and we're working hard on completely our 2011-12 year.

Helpful homeschooling tips or advice to share…
My helpful advice this week comes in the form of a tongue-in-check post I made yesterday entitled, "10 Ways to Ensure Homeschool Burnout".

Places we’re going and people we’re seeing…
We're going to spend 4 days at a park in north Florida at a lodging and water recreation resort! This park offers canoeing, kayaking, tubing and fishing. There are various levels of rope courses, scavenger hunts, hayrides, birding and orienteering activities. They even have zip line adventures but I doubt we'll be doing that one. This is a family reunion of sorts with most of our Florida and Georgia relatives attending and staying in a group cabin. FUN!!!

Things I’m working on…
I am currently trying to schedule my life around babysitting, working, homeschooling, blogging and reading while not neglecting those minor activities like cooking, cleaning and sleeping. ;-)

A photo, video, link, or quote to share…

In the category of "My Children's Talent", my son, who is about to begin attending college for music production, has been playing around with his new MIDI keyboard. I'd love if you listened to his song and tell me what you think!!

The genre is Orchestral Dubstep. He definitely knows how to build up to intensity and back down again!

Please go pay a visit to the other journaling moms this week.

But first...
What did you think of his song? How was YOUR week?

Happy Homeschooling!

Hey, I am working on most of those same things! We are just getting back from one week off. I don't know if I could handle a whole month.

  7.  Florida is fun. I happen to live here. The place I'm going is 7-9 hours away however. I've never been there.. can't wait!

  8.  Every 12 weeks (a term) we take 1 month off. We are still learning, of course. Learning never ceases. But that's the month the kids get a break from formal lessons. It gives all of us time to regroup so we don't burnout. It's also when I plan the next term.
