Beautiful Japanese-Themed Homeschool Graduation Party

Jul 15, 2012

On Saturday, we had an 8th grade graduation party for Alexis!

Due to her love of Japan, the culture, the people, the language (she's been teaching herself Japanese), we went with a Japanese theme: Cherry Blossoms.

The party wasn't a surprise, but the theme was kept from her for months. Because she's vegetarian, we served vegetarian Japanese dishes. After the party, which was about 4 hours long, we went to the Orlando Science Center.

It was a small gathering of mostly immediate family and homeschool friends. I was so happy that her dad's mom and brother were able to make it. Her dad would be so proud of his little girl. She's growing up to be quite the young lady.

Here is a sampling of the shots from the party:

My crafty daughter and her friend made the Cherry Blossom branches from branches and tissue paper.

Chop stick party favors help form the centerpiece.

Her expression as she walked in to see the decorations.

Gift from her grandma (dad's mom)

Tofu and Veggie Sushi

Tofu 'Chicken'

Teriyaki Tofu Stir Fry

Teriyaki Chicken stir-fry

Cake made by my 22-year-old daughter.
Chocolate Cherry Coke cake with Cherry Blossom fondant flowers.

The party favors were cherry blossom fans and chop sticks.

What a wonderful day!

Happy Homeschooling!
